Feeling Better

Jan13200911:37 a.m.

I am happy to report, cautiously, that my left leg is feeling so much better! I have seen the physical therapist twice, with a visit still to come this week, and she has really puzzled this out, giving me some intense stretches to try to alleviate my back-of-leg pain. At the same time, she is not entirely convinced my hamstring is the problem. While I likely injured it initially, she said that after 8 weeks it should be getting better. While it hadn't until this week, she was thinking that in the healing process the tendons and ligaments shortened, further pulling my left side out of whack. Getting older can sure be tough! I wonder how I would feel if I hadn't taken my entire 30s off from running (too busy raising kids). I may not be running at all.

At the same time, I have stepped up my swimming to a mile, twice a week.

My goal is still to be running by Feb. 1. We'll see. . .
