Third Time Lucky! by Nicebloke

Took me 3 years but I have finally run a marathon!!

Injuries stopped me in my tracks for two consecutive London Marathons but this year was my year and on November 7th - I crossed the line in New York a very happy bunny!!

Took me 5:58:23 but I beat Gebrselassie on my first outing so that's not bad!

The whole day was amazing and the crowd support was incredible.

Managed to raise £2000 for our local hospice which is great.

Not sure what to do next - potentially have a bond place for London 2011 but not sure if I can raise another £2000 so close to New York.

Need some fundraising suggestions ie events that could make this happen for me.....

Anyway, I'm off to polish my medal again!!

Had a 10-miler planned for today but have been under the weather all week - just generally feeling run down and achy - must be age!!

So decided on doing a 10k at a slightly faster pace. Usual story, went off too fast, suffered for a few miles and wheezed my way home in the p*ssing rain.

Not sure at this stage if it was a good idea but I suppose at least I made the effort and it's another 10k in the bag.

Yet another 5-year-olds party for me to take Toby to today and then I'm cheffing for some good friends tonight.

Tomorrow I'm on a corporate jolly to see the Spurs/Everton game - while Mrs Lee is on a corporate jolly watching the Rangers/Celtic derby at Ibrox!!

The good thing about Toby starting school is all these enforced holidays I keep getting - not good for business but great for spending time with the family.

Training this week was a textbook week.

Monday: Cross/Row/Bike followed by weights

Tuesday: Cross/Row/Bike followed by weights

Wednesday: 5k treadmill run followed by 20 lengths swimming

Thurs: Cross/Row/Bike followed by weights

Fri: Cross/Row/Bike followed by weights

Sat (today): 10k Road Run.

Road run went well apart from I tackled a new route taking in a b*stard hill which ground me to a walk near the top - bit disappointing. But I managed 10k in 1:10 -  very ploddy but no complaints from my hips so that's good news.

Think I'm going to stick at that distance now for a bit and concentrate in getting sub 1 hour rather than increasing mileage at this stage. 

I've got the London 10000 in May and I'd love to do that in a respectable time!

Anyway I need some breakfast and then it's time to start packing for our half term trip to lovely Cornwall.
