it's not over yet!

i gave up. i really did. my lack of posts is proof. my runs were all sluggish. i had zero motivation. i would stop running not because i had to...but because i just didn't want to. I even went out for one run, didn't want to but thought if i gave it a shot i might warm to it - half a mile out i turned back. i needed one good run to make myself feel better but my mind was the only thing stopping me so it was a vicious circle. There's been a lot going on and it made me lose the focus and desire i needed to succeed at my training. but i am starting to find it again. the homesickness and the stresses of work can't bother me while i run, i just have to stop dwelling long enough to do it. and when it starts to feel like work, i need to power through it, not use it as an excuse to walk for a minute. this week, I've had 3 good consistent runs. I am hoping for another one tomorrow morning. I am back on track - I may need to modify my half marathon time goal a little now, but just finishing it is going to be a big achievement for me since its my first and i've never run that far. i am on track for my 10k goal - i've got 3 weeks until that, and 7 til the half. I can do this, I just need to hold tight to this motivation i've found for 7 more weeks - i know it will be worth it in the end.

Tonight was the second official training run, the first with my new Garmin. Sadly the foot pod battery was dead, meaning no pace indication and no distance!...

Keith_L 'Forget the time target and just focus on doing the half. Time is irrelevant for your fiorst attempt at any distance - its abouut completing and proving to yourself you can do it. I am sure you will. Also doing Nottingham but trying out the full which will be a bit weird with all you guys turning off at 13 miles and having to carry on. Good luck' added 17th Jul 2009
