im back, and im back too!

Jul02200910:15 p.m.

yes I realize i wrote that twice. firstly because i just got back from a visit back to my family in the states, and also because im back to running after taking a little longer of a break than i intended. the heat discouraged me from starting up again and i must admit i was encouraged to see from some other blogs that i wasn't the only one! but jetlag plus heat sounded like a combination for trouble to me. i just hope i have enough juice in the tank to buckle down and work extra hard to make sure i'm not going to fail at my half marathon. I must admit i'm a little scared. my motivation is low and i am not running as well as i should be, making excuses to stop and walk when there really is no good reason other than i'm feeling lazy. but now i need to come to terms with the fact that if i keep doing that i am not going to be able to do this. so what i'm going to do is focus on my 10k on august 7th in the first instance. because its sooner, it seems more 'real' if that makes any sense - knowing its sooner will hopefully help me to stay focused and keep running! i'm going to go out early tomorrow morning when its cooler, and fortunately because of the jet lag it should be easy to get up for it, i've not been sleeping well. fingers crossed for some badly needed motivation, avoiding injury and illness, and doing good times on my 10k and my half marathon!

  • squa25 'I have to agree with hippychick; short term goals are excellent motivators. Focus on something that's coming up and when you're feeling low, try taking things one day at a time. Don't expect too much - you are likely to achieve smaller goals and feel proud rather than deflated about what you haven't done. Keep at it. you'll be fine! ' added 2nd Jul 2009

  • Muffs 'Don't be scared. Nottingham is an amazing race. Even if you are not quite ready the crowd and other runners will get you to the finish line. The half there was my first ever race in 2007 I did the full last year and guess what i'm back again this year. It has to be one of the best races outside of the London Marathon. Good luck' added 3rd Jul 2009
