Speed session

May0220079:43 p.m.

Sorry been in sunny Glasgow for a few days with work!

Back on track on Monday night with a 6 x 200m sprints session with 200m walk recovery.  Flat out sprinting was hard from the very start and I got slower on each one starting at 34 seconds and finishing at 38s.  Legs went to jelly by 5th one and the last 200m walk before the 6th sprint was slow!!.  Still I recovered quick and I've a race next Wednesday - a 4 mile trail race; then a 5k road race the week after and a 10 mile race in Chorley on 27th May - 2 days after my 51st B'day!!

  • Pete 'Pete - a load of track sessions to look at sounds to be just what I'm after, if you don't mind emailing them to me I'd really appreciate it. I don't know if this is sensible, but I'm not thinking about specific marathon training at the moment. I suppose I'm more interested in trying to improve my 10K/10M times - although realistically I'm happy if I can see ANY measure of improvement - I guess it's that that keeps me motivated. Also, "800m effort" sounds a little daunting to me - I'm thinking more of 100m/200m, at least for a start - this is not one of your young kids you're training you know!!!!!?? ;)' added 3rd May 2007

  • Pete 'Pete - I've just seen your second comment - any help will be most appreciated - I may not appear to be using the advice I receive but believe me, it all gets filed away and a plan eventually comes together. I'm not rushing into anything Pete but maybe one evening I'd like to come over to one of your training sessions to watch, and have a chat after you've finished, if that would be ok? My working life is probably going to change significantly in the near future, so it's a bit tricky making too many plans, but who knows?' added 3rd May 2007

  • Heather_B 'Pete Just getting caught up with your blog - impressive list of marathons!! I'm quite heartened by the fact that your first one was completed in the exact time it took me to do London!! Let's hope my improvement is as good as what your's was!! (though very unlikely!) Good luck with the upcoming races.' added 3rd May 2007
