    marathon weekend part 2

after waking up early i had a banana and a cereal bar then after a shower i went and had a bowl of porridge and another banana.
timeof the run we headed off to the start and had a ball as we joked and took pictures...
nerves didn't come into it as i felt great...(even after the night before)
i stayed just over the time on my pace band until mile 17 and then i had to slow ( yes i did walk some of it i wont lie) mile 17.5 i met someof my friends and had a quick hug and a photo..
canary wharf was awfull twisty and very wet and miles 19 to 21 were quite painfull as my groin had starting to hurt
after seeing another friend at mile 23 i decided that i would just go for it and felt myself speed up hitting the embankment and the cheering crowds made me determind to finish the course..
birdcage walk i knew that i was so close i was determind to run all the way home
crossing the finish line made me so very happy i was only 13 minutes off the pace band so i cant really complain on the time side...
I HAD SET OUT TO RUN AND FINISH THE FLORA LONDON MARATHON AND I HAD DONE IT AN ASTHMATIC MOTHER OF THREE KIDS PROVED TO HERSELF THAT SHE COULD AND DID RUN 26.3 MILES..... TILL NEXT TIME 2010 POSSIBLY

    marathon weekend part 1

well i cant really believe its been nearly a week since i ran the flora london marathon.
we got picked up at 6am on the saturday to travell down to london for the expo. after arriving at the hotel in greenwich we all had a walk up to the start area as it was my first marathon and denise had run london before.
we then headed off to the expo and had great fun there shopping and meeting some friends that had decieded to come and support us.
we then went to the finish area and agreed to meet under the gaurdsman memorial after we finished the run the following day.
after heading back to the hotel for some much needed shut eye (as i was developing a migraine) we went for some pasta...
big mistake as my migraine had hit a home run and i was feeling terrible. my friend said that it was nerves but the minute the food was put down infront of me i had to go to the toilet in the end i had to go back to the hotel where i promptly threw up......
it felt like i was drunk with the room spinning

    speed work still counts

well now the taper is on i found that i couldn't ,for some reason, go out running on sunday morning. whether it was the time difference or what i will never know but after running a mile quicker than i normally do i found that i had a complete mental block.. i just couldnt seem to get my head round this running malarky...
i gave up trying for a 10 miler and instead focused on speed work through the industrial estate that is a normal part of my run....
god knows what they thought as i sprinted  and walked between lamp posts and   quite frankly the looks that i was getting from some of the people doing their weekly tip at the recycling center thought that i was completely potty
i was out for just over an hour in which i did the afore mentioned speed work and also combined a couple of hills in aswell
so from a disasterous run to quite a good alround workout im really pleased with myself to say that i wasnt running wasnt an option and kept going in a different form

    well on my way

after waking up on easter sunday morning i decided to leave my run to the next day as we had 6 inches of snow overnight....
easter monday i woke up and decided that whilst the sky was blue and the roads were dry i went out
16 miles later i had done well 2hrs 48mins it had taken me and my knees had started to feel a bit sore so i said to myself that that was it.
hopefully now the taper will allow my sore knees to rest and im eating all the pasta that i can..
mmmmm pasta with heinz mushroom soup and crusty bread
