About THE LONG SLOW ROAD TO RECOVERY AND HOPEFULLY THE V.L.M.

right hi people. its been a while since my last blog which i did for the great north run last year.

alot has happened to me in the time between then and now.

after completing the great north run, and waiting an hour for the bus back into newcastle, i found that when i got back into running at home i had a really tight and painfull thigh, i gave myself 2 weeks rest hoping that that would be a good thing, only to be told by the doctor that i had torn my hamstring!!!!!

went to a private physio, who started me on ultasound and other equipment, and after a few weeks was given a hospital appointment to see the physio there, who said that as the other pyhsio had done work on me all i needed to do was stretch as it was nerve damage not hamstring!!!!!!! and that i needed new running shoes and special insoles to go with them.

kept on running and kept saying to the hospital that something wasnt right and i still had pain and could feel something in my hamstring when running. basically i was fobbed off.

went back to the private physio another 2 times and was told that i would be ok to do a 10k if i took it very slow  (1.06) as i was aiming for under the hour.

still having problems went back to the doctor who again refered me to the hospital, ( when i got there i asked not to be put with the woman i had had before and why) and was given another lady who diagnosed a hamstring tear not nerve damaged and the long slow road to recovery started for me there, in may.

she then left but put me with another bloke who has done ( to me) wonders as he has done deep tissue massage and ultra sound and has worked really hard on me, had wedges put in my running shoes to counter the effect of my heel rolling inwardsand putting pressure on my hamstring.

i managed last night to do a 10 min jog a 10 min alk and then another 10 min jog. ok i only covered about 2.5 miles in 33 mins but to me those 2.5 miles were wonderful just to be back in the air running again. gonna take it very slowly and work my way up in milage, but my motivation is finding out whether i'm in for next years london marathon. so today i'm starting my blog as a diary of  progress in my recovery and also as  motivation if i do get in to london.

thanks for reading and i hope to be blogging on about once a week to keep on track of my progress.
