About Richard Dunwoody's Blog

Three times Champion jockey Richard Dunwoody is one of Britain's most successful jockeys ever, carving his name in racing folklore by winning the Big Three races - the Grand National (twice), the Champion Hurdle and the Cheltenham Gold Cup - during his 15 year National Hunt racing career.

When he hung up his boots at the age of 35 due to injury in 1999, he had won a record 1,699 races and endured 672 falls (a record which he still holds!). He is best known for his partnership with the legendary Desert Orchid on whom he won seven races. Richard was awarded an MBE in 1993 for services to his sport.

Richard has gone on to become a racing pundit for the BBC, a sports columnist, inspirational speaker, and has undertaken several grueling charity challenges raising hundreds of thousands in the process. And if a 48-day South Pole trek and sleep-deprived '1,000 mile in 1,000 hours' challenge weren't enough, he has even tackled his worst fears to take to the Strictly Come Dancing floor.
