Getting Blown Off My Bike!

Jan0220128:26 p.m.

Well, nearly.

When is this wind going to let up? They're forecasting monstrous conditions for the next couple of days again too Frown.

Don't like being out on my bike in the wind, but, its got to be done now hasn't it?! Whether its the road or the rollers, I've got 12 weeks to get my arse toughened up enough to cope with being rubbed on a saddle for 100 miles Yell.

17 miles on a hilly route, but the wind was definitely a factor, at one point I was coasting down a hill at 22mph (usually about 35mph on that particular slope) and a big gust literally stopped me dead!

Don't like the "tank slappers" this bike gets when you're on a fast downhill and a gust from a gateway or a T-junction hits you from the side! Scary stuff! (Whilst also curiously exhilerating - must be the shot of adrenaline when you think your face is about to meet the tarmac at 40mph Tongue out!).

Got to work at my hill climbing though - the Mow Cop Killer Mile (this is a great vid to show just how steep it is - well worth a look) and Gun Hill, one of the major climbs of the Tour Of Britain, both feature in this Cheshire Cat ride on March 25th.

Forgot to add my New Years resolution to my previous blog post - so - here it is:

"FORGET ABOUT DOING BETTER THINGS, FOCUS ON DOING THINGS BETTER"

Makes perfect sense to me and is definitely the right thing for 2012. (Can't believe I'm putting my own musings in quotation marks - am I becoming pretentious Undecided?)

What's everyone else resolved to do for this year? Would love to hear all your thoughts Smile.

  • craigbeat 'I haven't been cycling in this wind. It died down over the weekend, and I was looking forward to cycling to work again tomorrow, but unfortunately, it's forecast for gales overnight. And to top it all, the chickens hate the wind too. Poor girls.' added 2nd Jan 2012
