Being injured is horrific!!!!!

OK this has officially turned into a nightmare. Not only can I not run, I can't walk particularly brilliantly. I'm not allowed to jog, cross train, swim, for 7-10 days, and recuperation is probably 7 days on top of that, leaving me 6 weeks to train four of which are supposed to be a wind down. This week I should have done 50 miles and I've done a big fat ZERO obviously. Absolute PANTS!!!
The calf hurts when I'm in bed with it raised, it constantly aches, and I'm having to shell out for physio twice a week. I've decided I don't care if it is only ready the week before the Marathon, I'll just try and run it on the fly, and hope. But that'll be 4 hours out of the window. Just finishing will be an achievement! I've been pretty good too.....and felt the training was actually going really well. I'm quicker than last time, more durable, more disciplined. Maybe now to no avail!
In the absence of training, whats been happening? Well work. Busy busy quoting, pitching and running around this week and probably next. Though the economy is still toilet! Right can't talk about that! Happy stuff, think happy.....OK.....I have sort of decided I want to go a bit 'green' in the future. Certainly in terms of driving less, cycling more, and getting rid of my polluting 2.5 litre at some point. Might need to think about what I can do at home too. I think I might be getting political in my older age......I almost almost joined a political party this week. I didn't because I couldn't decide which one. Its obviously OK every four years or so to change your vote, but you can't change parties really once you've joined! That would be a bit too fickle.
I've never been a labour supporter, but consider when I think about it that I might be genetically more labour than Tory. Especially when you look at the privately educated, independantly wealthy current tory front bench. The thing that makes me unsure is that Labour in power have been awful in many areas. I don't agree with the way we went to war, don't agree with the way they cosied up to the city institutions once they were in power, and don't agree with their approach to public spending. The problem is although the tories will take tough measures, and be a lot more frugal (they'll have to be), I can't help but think they won't mind if the tough measures hit the most socially and economicaly disadvantaged more than they hit those that are better off. The country is in a state, and the least well off, seem to have a staggering lack of education, lack of social mobility, and many don't know how to raise kids, feed themselves or their families, and are more aware of Cheryl Cole's situation through that rag of a paper 'the sun', than they are their own issues and how to improve things for themselves....this has also worsened under Labour, so although I can't see the tories affecting change in this area, neither have Labour. See what a tough decision.....come back John Major. There was a guy with priciples (well except marital fidelity), who cared about the disadvantaged, and with a background in social housing and hard work who did manage to affect change in the Tory Party. Problem was the economy was so screwed back then he couldn't put any of it into practice because he was fire fighting most of the time. I care but I'm not sure how to channel it yet!!!
Well thats taken the mind off of the marathon training.......all fingers and toes crossed that the inury heals in the next 5 or so days.....

gunes 'oh no join the club sorry to hear about your injury but you are not alone, there are a few of us on here with injuries although that probably doesn't make you feel any better. I am sure with rest in a few days you will be fine to go back slowly and just change a few goals even if you have to run a slightly slower time for the marathon. It is pants when you have done everything right, like me and it still goes wrong!!! Here is to a speedy recovery, and keep positive!' added 27th Feb 2010
