Still on ice!!!

Mar16201012:59 a.m.

Three weeks of nothing. No running, cycling, swimming officially came to an end yesterday as I hit the exercise bike for half an hour, and with no reaction this morning, I hope to do this every day from now onwards. I'm recuperating but as for the Marathon, I still don't know what to do. These three weeks were supposed to be heavy mileage weeks, with a four week tail off period before the race. No running this week will mean at BEST I have 5 weeks to prepare, and in the last 3 weeks I've felt my fitness, body shape, and motivation all wane. I can't see me managing four hours now, and at first I thought 'stuff it', I even saw a reccomendation on the Marathon site that said if you'll be unhappy with your time, for all that pain and effort, just don't do the race.

I've since seen some blogs about what a great day it is (which I know fromlast time, the atmosphere is amazing). How somewere worried about taking 6/7 hours, and how they are scared they might be running alone. I felt a bit ahsamed. IF I can start strengthening and doing a coupleof miles and build up,OKI won'tbe fully prepped, or competitive with where I want to be, but I now feel I should try. It should be about the experience, perhaps I might enjoy it more?? I'm a bit torn, but I'm edging toards running itif physicallypossible...(the only concern is that this would be against my physio's advice, and the guys in the hospital I saw the week after the injury who said no serious running for 6 weeks, which takes me up until the week before the marathon)....I know how much last time nearly killed me. With absolutelynoprep I'd be silly to try it. So alot hinges on myphysio appointment this week.

What I waould say is that the blogs I've read on facebook, here, and via the official site have been inspirational. They have shown me its about enjoyment as well as personal goals, and that I shouldn'tlet my ego come in the way of such a great day if I can physically take to the start line.......So its back to the bike later, the Physio on Thursday, and hopefullynext Monday I can establish a clear plan of action. I do intend tospeak to some sort of coach/expert about a four/five weekplan, with the last day being race day, to see how best toapproach things. This is a new one on me!
