Christmas is coming.....that means chocolates!

And another fortnight has elapsed. Isn't life exciting!! So another boxercise session or two has gone by & they're going rather well - really really enjoying them. But the sit-ups and leg lifts are still the killer point. I don't know if it's the effect of c-sections (x2 in 2 years) or of a few years of ulcer symptoms, but my stomach muscles - upper & lower abdominals seem determined not to play ball. I can see my bottom rib again, so there is some definition coming back, so things are working, but I despair of ever being able to do more than 3 sit ups without pain!!
On the swimming front, I managed to do 26 lengths in 25 minutes with only 1 length back crawl last week. Major improvement there. I was seriously knackered by the end of it though, so Roslyn's handy tip for the last day of October is - Don't go in the Sauna until you've got your breath back, 'cos deep inhaling hurts, makes you retch & look very stupid!! My goal is two-fold on the swimming - keep increasing the lengths I'm managing to 32 because that's the 1/2 mile and I'll be gobsmacked when I make it that far in 1 session. The other is to try & improve how I actually swim 'cos I spend a lot of time trying not to drown at the moment!! Breathing/Face in water/Water up nose/splashes down throat - it's not pretty.
Which leaves Thursday.....last week I had to quit at 2 miles because of twinges in my thigh, but I've been fine since. The previous Thursday I avoided running totally because of the thigh & calf and did the power walker in the gym instead. Which has the added bonus of using your arms. To music, it's a cracking workout & I had an absolute blast on it. It's hard going though & I burned as many calories in 2k as I would normally running 2 miles. Think I'll have to do that quite often now :)
Ah, but Christmas.....the chocolates have already started at work. So far I've managed to keep the weight gain to 0, but not actually lost any. So this week, I start Boxercise on a 2nd evening and I'll go to the gym on the Friday instead. I'm going to be puggled but boy is it going to be fun!
Catch you later.....

eclipse 'Well done on the swimming, although I love pools it is usualy to relax or mess around in, I never have been a big swimmer. Know what you mean about the chocolates, I walk past them and look down, my head says no but my hands are completly deaf!!' added 31st Oct 2010

Skye_Trekker 'Thanks for the swim & sauna tip :-/ Well done on the swimming. It seemed to take me ages to get up to 20 lengths but because I wasn't running over the summer the extra poool sessions I did paid off and in the end I could swim a comfortable 3k (believe it or not). Just chip away at the lengths and the distances will soon build up... Glad to see you are still enjoying the boxercise!' added 1st Nov 2010

Keep_Going_Lass 'sounds like you are well in the groove Roz! Well done! My achievement is only putting 1lb on on holiday and then losing two the following week! lol Started back at the gym - only pilates so far though, other than an absolute killer session with Andy last Friday - 1st one since June but I will persevere and maybe even start blogging again! Hadn't thought of swimming - should perhaps give that a try too to help sooth my creaking bones and joints!' added 3rd Nov 2010
