5 miles last night - 1 mile warm up/down & 3 miles brisk. Boy it was tough. No juice left in the pins. Creak and wheeze through the '3 miles brisk' section and somehow, on willpower alone, average 8.05. 

Tonight 7 miles are scheduled, including 1.5 mile 'fast' sections.  This equals a run home from work with sprints through Shepherd's Bush. You. Are. Having. A. Giraffe.  The legs take one look and snort with derision. Hmm.   Attempt to cajole them with a big scone, jam & butter from the bakers. They wolf it down and glower back at me. This is going to be tough. 

Me: “Come on legs, you can do it.”

Legs: “Sod off.”

 Me: “OK, we'll forget the 'fast' bits & just take it steady”

Legs (spotting a policeman) “HEEEEEEEEEELP! HEEEEEEEELP! We’ve been kidnapped and sold into running slavery!”

Me: “Think of Eddie. He did mile after mile, day after day. If he can do it..”

Legs: “Will you shut up about Eddie?  He’s an Action Transvestite.  We’re just a pair of Regular Joes.”

Me:  “Sigh.  I’ll give you a big glass of wine and some chocolate when we get home.”

Legs: “Throw in Cops With Cameras and it’s a deal.”

Somehow, we make it home in an hour dead, averaging 8.33. I generally would be against outright bribery and corruption, but desperate times, desperate measures.
