Does feeling excited make me a total masochist???

1 1/2 days to go. Bring it on!
RRROOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Final visit to physio yesterday. He produced a plastic ruler thing with a circle on the end and started twisting my leg about, evidently measuring something. Not entirely sure what advanced geometry has to do with my right thigh. The wonders of modern science. Satisfied, he then set about much gouging and digging and pronounced the IT band definitely looser. Hurrah!
But he still looked pensive. I knew what was coming. “I think I’ll strap your foot up”. Yup, there it is. OK, go on, I know it makes you happy. Can’t remember the last time I ran a race without being heavily bandaged in sticky tape.
Prognosis is much better. Basically if it hurts, stop & stretch, then carry on. And I have permission to take painkillers beforehand. Oh yeah. The VLM 2010 Doping Scandal starts here.
Went to Marathon Expo last night & felt all fuzzy and warm with the Nice People telling me ‘Good luck!’ and ‘Have a good run!’. Quite brought a tear to my eye. I’ve been getting a little over-emotional recently from the alcohol-withdrawal.
Only issue is getting through this afternoon. My office is like a doctor’s surgery – people spluttering and coughing all around me. Can they not all be put down, or something? But apart from that, I’m now carb-loading in earnest. Brown food recently consumed:
Jacket potato
Large scone, jam & butter
Nuts & raisins
Big bowl of couscous & hummus (was going to have cottage cheese but that was white)
Cereal bar
Feeling a bit ill. Munch on, people.

simonedumergue 'That is good news - even if you are drugged and mummified in tape - you get to run. Yippee. So with you on the carbo front. I went to bed last night feeling revolting and lay in bed this morning psyching myself up to eat. Only time we can scoff with impunity and it is horrible!' added 23rd Apr 2010
