It Keeps Me On The Streets by Ruth22

About

Ran my first marathon in London 2007. The euphoria overtook the pain (I hear childbirth is similar) and I signed up again in 2009.  Unfortunately...

Food, not so glorious Food...

Mar10201012:59 a.m.

Really bored of feeling hungry.  Just eaten brimming bowl of fruit salad, yoghurt and museli all mixed up together and it barely touched the sides.  Now I want biscuits but I’m at work and there are no biscuits.  And it’s 3 hours 4 mins till lunch.

Yesterday I mostly ate brown food (carbs). Maybe they could die carbs green or red or something.  Anything to make them less brown. And maybe they could invent a new food that tastes nice and makes you feel full up after eating a normal portion and keeps you feeling full till the next (normal sized) meal. That would be good.

Anyway. Apart from food woes, it was 8 miles home from last night. Finally, colleagues have got used to Ruth-In-Lycra and now don’t even glance up from their computers as I emerge Ninja-ed up from the loo.  I’ve even started wearing my Lairy Boy Racer 2XU compression tights to not even a raised eyebrow. Legs were still tired from the 17 miler on Sunday so it was creaky progress.  But halfway through as I was feeling a bit sorry for myself I thought of Eddie Izzard and his Marathon Man challenge.  Oh my.  If you haven’t watched the programme yet, tune it tonight.  Makes this piffling one marathon lark seem like a walk in the park...

I think he will get many of us through our tough moments. I think it is on tomorrow night rather than tonight, but either way, I'll be tuning in again. Are you having some protein with your carbs at lunchtime? Protein is what will keep you feeling fuller for longer. Happy running :-)' added 10th Mar 2010
