Please Can I Be Cryrogenically Frozen & Woken Up In Spring?
Feb0120129:30 p.m.
I'm typing this with the crook of my elbow. 3.5 mile recovery run tonight and by 1.4 all my fingers had caught frostbite and fallen off. I threw my head back against the artic gale and roared to the heavens: "By the power of GoreWindstopper, I command you, desist!" but that just fueled the wrath of the Icey Furies and they blew ever harder. Oh well, all the fingers on my right hand were covered in central-heating induced excema, so I suppose it's for the best.
Other News
9 miles trainer-commute home from work last night. It was very long, it was very cold. I tried to distract myself by thinking how lucky I was to be running past world-renowned London landmarks: 'Look, Park Lane, full of posh hotels with people inside, in the warm, drinking Claret'... 'Look, the Victoria & Albert Museum, with people inside, in the warm, drinking Cappuccino'... 'Look, the Natural History Museum, with people inside, in the warm...'. It didn't really help.
15 miles Long Slow Run on Sunday. For once, I managed the 'Slow' bit properly. Mainly because I hadn't eaten enough beforehand and by 7 miles the needle on my tank was dipping below zero. Just as I was about to crash headfirst into a ditch, a burst of Primal Scream's Movin' On Up on my iPod resurrected me. Thank you, Bobby Gillespie, my fellow Glaswegian Night-In-Shining-Lycra.
And Finally
My dad is Nostradamus. He wrote on my charity sponsorship page 'Don't wear out Garmin'. When I pulled up at the end of my run tonight, Garmin was blank. Dead. Out for the count. Flat on his back with his tongue lolling out and his legs in the air. Marvellous.
I'm off to defibrillate. Till next time, good running everybody.

Alaistair 'When the conditions get difficult, as they will no doubt get harder in the coming days with snow & ice on the way...hope you can stick to the task and keep your training going. Figure I missed that you are running VLM this year, have to say that's brilliant news considering your recovery and slow return to running...' added 3rd Feb 2012

simonedumergue 'haha - I love your posts. Today is the first time I had logged into RB for months. Must get back into it all. Yep, it sure is cold at the moment - I churned out 15 miles today while it was -6 degrees. Double gloves were the order of the day...' added 3rd Feb 2012

Mrs_Old_Bird 'Well done. Will this icy weather ever end, I wonder? Hope your fingers return to normal soon, and that the outlook for Garmin is good.' added 4th Feb 2012

runnerbarbie01 'I feel even colder than I did previously since reading that post - brrrrrr. It is freezing at the moment and you deserve serious snaps (Legally Blonde) for getting out there and doing those runs. 9 miles home in the freezing cold dark - well done. I was considering doing the 8 mile commute home as a run one day - you may have just inspired me :)' added 7th Feb 2012
