17.7 miles but a bit annoyed
I set off today with the aim on doing between 15 and 20 miles, all was going well despite the poor preparation (no Lucozade sport and forgot the jelly babies) I had a route planned in my head, took extra money, safely zipped in my new running bely and full power on my Garmin. As it was a nice sunny day I took extra cash knowing I would probabaly need two water refills.
Fisr water stop at 12 miles, worked out how I was going to tackle the next 8 miles (was feeling up to it at this point) and off I went knowing where I would next stop for water. Got to 17.1 miles, went into the garage for water - could I find that £1 coin, no - checked pockets, checked belt, checked pockets another 5 times, took belt off and checked it several times and no sign of the missing £1, there was no way I could manage the extra 2.9 miles without water and as there are no troughs in the area I made the decision to run home. I was annoyed at being so close but I was to much in need of water to carry on. I did think of calling in at home for a drink and setting off again but it wasn't really possible - world war 3 over hot chocolate made me think I should stay in.
WhenI got in and emtied my belt of phone, keys and assorted rubbish I remembered the secret little pocket I had put the £1 in - that's when I laughed but was really annoyed.
I decided to invest in a running belt as it's too warm for a jacket and I'll need to carry things round with me in London, I opted for the Hilly one, fits well round the top of my shorts, no rubbing and is fairly flat so is coverred well under a running top. Didn't want a bottle carrier belt as drinks are plentiful during the Marathon - hindsight eh!

squa25 'Oh dear... Well you know next time to pack a few pound coins now just to be safe. I sometimes go the full hog and take £5 note too... Lol never know when I might need it. Of course that's with some loose change. I've ordered the same belt thing as I've no pockets in my summer running kit. I wire vest and 3/4 leggings today and struggled with the pocket situation... Well done for the 17+ miles though, still a good distance.' added 21st Mar 2010

simonedumergue 'Oh - how annoying indeed!! Still - a good run and good distance. I have the same running belt and use it for long runs and used it for the marathon last year - it was great. Sooo comfortable to wear and a good size for gels/jellie babies etc.' added 21st Mar 2010

Firefly123 'That is so annoying, but I have the same problem with pockets, especially when I'm wearing my jacket. I once nearly traced the steps of a 4 mile run to find the keys that I'd put in another of my pockets! Anyway, you did a very impressive lsr.' added 21st Mar 2010
