I've been running regularly recently, with clients and on my own. Monday this week was a true fartlek session, I did a half an hour session which was 3 laps, with the dog and my 2 children on their bikes - great fun, when my son was in front the dog wanted to run fast and so tried to pull my arm off, when my daughter was slow up the hills then I was there to give her a helping push. Last lap on my own was great with some real fast bursts.

I was told, after playing in (and winning) a parents tag rugby tournament at my sons club (WRUFC) that I move my hips (& probably my whole torso) alot and basically run like a girl - ok I am a girl but it got me thinking. Recently I have adjusted and corrected my posture, including my feet. They used to turn in quite alot but don't any more - so I wondered if this had knocked on to my running style as my family (who told me about the hips) have seen me run before - and I have been concentrating since then on running straighter. I got to thinking that the twisting/rotating in my hips was probably just wasting my energy and that may be part of the reason that although I feel I am gaining fitness I don't seem to be getting any quicker!

    Thoughts please ...........
