Back from the "Flu"
Nov1020099:58 p.m.
Haven't ran, blogged, moved much in the last 2 weeks as i've been struck down with the flu; after having a few weeks of not quite feeling right it developed into full blown, knock your socks off flu! I was off work for a week (never been off work sick for a week) got out of breath walking up the stairs and felt like i was being crushed.
Almost back to 100% so with the wind in my sails i did my track session tonight, really wasn't sure how i was going to feel but to my surprise my chest and lungs felt great it was just the legs that were tired. I'm hoping that i haven't gonw back too soon but i didn't want to be away from the roads for too long. Track session was OK; i was pleased to have finished all the reps and didn't have to cut it short, my times were naturally a little slower but i'm not overly concerned about this.
Have had a few surprises whilst i've been laid up; it was my birthday last week and hubby bought me a lovely garmin watch so i now have my own virtual training partner to pace me and keep me on the right track, i also have a lovely new pair of trainers, haven't used Saucony for a few years but i am really pleased with them and had no niggles after tonigths session. Its going to take me ages to work out the garmin properly and i'm sure that i'll only use it for a fraction of what it can do but i'm pleased with the purchase.
Plan to run at the club Thursday and then a longer run at the weekend, the revised plan is to take a few weeks getting back into it then start increasing the miles to get a good base for the new year. No doubt this revised plan will be revised again - life has a funny way of throwing things at you to destroy your plans!
