Stepping up the challenge

In the years that i've been running i've only ever done one type of running and thats to go out and run my standard steady pace, in my quest to get faster i've now started going to the clubs track sessions once a week. In terms of distance we really don't run very far but the speed and reps are what count. The general pattern that i've been following is 2 x 1200m, 2 x 700m, 2 x 400m, it really donesn't seem much but my legs are buring at the end of it, i've only been going to these sessions for 4 weeks and i've already noticed an improvement. The club coach emails us our times for each week and is plotting our progress but i'm also noticing an improvement in my running overall.
Even though i've ran lots of events and london twice before, its these track sessions that make me feel like a "real" runner.
On a different matter, has anyone else heard of ruchard bransons plans to change the marathon route - he wants to run less through east london and take more fo the sights in - considering that nearly all the route is in east london it sounds likek he's going to have a revamp on his hands.
