Fastest 5K for me last night since recent records began 2 years ago: 21:55 (07:01 pace). Was a little disappointed as there was a strong headwind for the first K and the last 600mtrs, so could have dipped under 7min miles. However, the biggest problem was that the niggle I have been carrying for ages turned into a proper ache after the run. I iced it and it doesn't feel bad this morning but it's still there. A few days rest and ice are in order and then I'll try it out on some soft ground. If there's no significant improvement then I may have to finally bite the bullet and have a week or two rest :(
April has very much been a month of long runs for me and not getting out too often. This has probably help to keep niggle as a niggle. The short sharp option last night clearly disagreed. Bugger. I know at least a weeks rest with icing is the sensible thing but........ well, you know!!
