MK Winter Enigma Marathon
Jan0320127 p.m.
Yesterday was the MK Winter Enigma Marathon following on from the Enigma Christmas Marathon Double. Basically, its the same tried and tested format. Short out and back (just under 2 miles) followed by x times around a lake. This one was around Caldecotte Lake (approx 3.5 miles) and x=7!
Usual suspects albeit a very different line-up to the double before Christmas but familiar faces none the less.
Quite a nice and sunny day but a very very bitter wind.
'er Indoors and the Little One disappeared after the start to the "360" soft play centre in MK. Apparently, its very good but very expensive - entry is £8 for an over 4 year old child and even £3 for an adult!
A pretty decent course that gently undulated in places but very very busy with dog walkers, cyclists and families enjoying the decent weather so had to frequently deviate off the racing line and be prepared to evasive action to avoid any coming together.
Ran with Keith_L for the entirety which meant being beasted around at a pace somewhat quicker than my usual 3.45 finishing time! It was good to catch up and chew the fat.
The miles came and went. Didn't catch many mile splits but the ones that I did see were about 8.05 to 8.18. Quicker than normal but consistent. The wind became stronger as the run went on. Despite warming up quite nicely, my fingers started to become a little numb towards the end.
Finished in 3.37.14 in joint 7th place (with Keith_L) out of 55 runners. Average heart rate of 148 bpm. Course measured at 26.31 miles via Polar GPS.
Nice finishers mug and medal.
1st of the year and number 55 done and dusted.
Obligatory rest day today.
