Spin & swim

Jan2720121:14 p.m.

  Feeling really good this week.

This week's training is leaving me feeling full of energy instead of absolutely drained!  I'm definitely not slacking off in the effort department so I can only put it down to the training having a positive effect on my fitness, in combination with my body finally adapting to the early mornings and my diet becoming better (both in content and the timing of meals/snacks).  Having a really good week at work instead of a slog can't have hurt either!

So last night I wandered up to the gym for an hour's spinning class with my mate.  I absolutely threw myself at the efforts and was rewarded with that good burning feeling in my legs by the end of it all.

This morning I was back there yet again for a swim.  To phase myself back in to the heavier workouts I reduced the length of the session slightly compared to what the book says I should have done, so mine consisted of 500m w/u, 10x100m in 1:37 av. working off 2:00 (I think that's how you put it), 500m c/d.  It felt good and I didn't die during the last few efforts so next week I'll attempt the full sessions.

Got an hour's run tonight then I'm off for a curry - Friday night is cheat night in my diet!  Won't be a late on though as I've got two and a half hours on the bike in the morning and need to make it count.  The joys of IM training!
