Nothing more inspiring than this

The word inspiring is too readily used these days. Yes, of course it amazing to see the likes of Mo Farah clocking up a European 10K record or to have seen Paula Radcliffe in her heyday romping to a marathon world record and we would rightfully say that these performances are inspiring.
But it’s the achievements completed the real face of adversity that inspires many of us. Just take a look at the London Marathon – every year people of all shapes and sizes (and sometimes disabilities) complete the marathon and each and every person has their own inspiring story to tell.
None is more inspiring that the marathon effort put in by Eddie Kidd who has been running this year’s Virgin London Marathon since 17th April. Painstaking he’s been making steady progress, walking an average of 500 yards each day with the help of a specially designed walking frame and a Bioness device which sends electrical impulses to the nerves in Eddie's left leg, enabling him to walk.
Those of you over the age of 30 will remember Eddie as the pin-up boy stunt rider who seemed to have it all until a bike stunt went horribly wrong, leaving him with severe head and pelvic injuries which have severely impacted on him. But he hasn’t let that stop him running the marathon as he aims to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.
Quite a few of you have been wondering about Eddie’s progress and tonight (between 5-7pm) he’ll be finally crossing that finish line. So if you really want to see something inspiring get yourself along to the front of Buckingham Palace, watch this true hero, and give him a cheer as he finally brings his Virgin London Marathon Challenge to an end. Better still put your hand in your pocket and sponsor him.
