Hi there
Well I have had an eventful start to 2010. Four weeks ago I was on crutches thanks to a mishap in the snow. Severely sprained my left ankle when I fell awkwardly, effectively wiping out all my running plans for the start of the year including two x country races and the Great Bentley Half Marathon on 7th February.
Rehab is progressing well though. I did a full week of heel lowering and resistance band exercises last week and will be upping reps this week. Following my injury I joined the gym based at the local high school. Its small but well equipped and best of all is only 200m from my house. Im doing a session there each week, just to keep my sanity and to help keep me in shape. I had a good session this morning, hitting the bike and the x trainer. It was good to have a proper cardio workout and get the heart rate going.
Im not too phased about this injury. The weather has been cold and horrible and my sympathy goes to those of you training for London. That said I wouldnt have minded running the 26.2m in April.
My main aim is is to come back fitter and stronger and then to work on my Half Mara PB this year. A number of club mates posted PBs at Great Bentley which was great but I must confess I was a little jealous and cant help but feel Im being left behind. Last time I raced the distance I posted 1:57 which was a PB but in training prior to my accident Ive run a lot quicker, around the 1:40 mark. I looking for a suitable half in June to aim for so that I can translate training into a decent race time.
Hope all is well with everybody. I will now have a quick look at your posts to catch up
A belated New Year to all!

Christian, sorry to hear about the ankle. I ran Great Bentley and a good race it was, ideal weather so I'm sure a few PBs. I have wondered about the gym up there, I only live about 600 yds away I guess. Perhaps catch you out on that railway walk sometime.
