  • Getting There....Slowly

    Dec192008noon

This week like for most people I suspect running hasn't been a top priority (except JOJO maybe).

The focus for us earlier in the week was our retriever that required an eye operation as she couldn't see out of it because of some rogue blood vessels. The vessels were quarterized and after the operation she was blind in that eye. This was a better result and having the eye cut out which was the other option. By Wednesday she went back to the vets and apparently can see very well out of the eye now. She has another appointment next week, so fingers crossed she doesn't have any bleeds.

On the home front son number 1 finished school on Wednesday and son number 2 does today, so not suprisingly they are getting excited. We should be able to decorate the tree tomorrow which has been sitting in the garden for a week.

On the decorating front we have had the electricitian in to put in spot ligts in the ceiling of the ensuite and then yesterday the plasterer re done the ceiling, so some more painting for us on Sunday. Also the 'blind' man cam around and fitted new blinds in the kitchen.

On the running front. I have been trying a new schedule I found online from Frank Horwill (endurance coach) to see if it suits my running or not. It started badly on Monday where I was mean't to do 10k in 36 mins. I gave up by 4 miles. Tuesday was 16x400m with 45 sec recovery. Amazingly the body took the punishement and although not the quickest session I have done I was suprised I completed it. This obviously bolstered my confidence. Wednesday I had a scheduled day off. Thursday more speed work 6x500m with 2 mins rest, but about 4 seconds per 400m quicker than Tuesdays session. Again the body coped admirably. Today I was advised not to go running as I have just had 3 injections in my arm.

    Keep up the running.

    Les
