The Last 2 Weeks

Wow its been that long already! Well lets start with the interesting stuff i.e non running.
About 2 weeks ago we had a quote to strip the wallpaper from the bedroom and dressing room and repaint it, the quote was £1000. This probably is about the correct amount?? But with the recession we decided to do it ourselves over the last two weeks. The wallpaper came off ok, as did the sugar soaping the walls, it was then time to start the painting. First it was the artex which is a lovely pattern but also means it is ‘thick’ so a special roller was required. The walls all required 2 coats of paint and we finished them last weekend. Yesterday was the last painting job the doors that split the bedroom from the dressing room. These door unfortunately have 15 panes of glass in them and took over an hour for each side so a minimum 4 hours to finsh those yesterday. Obviously now as far as the missus is concerned is the interesting bit furnishing the rooms.
Not much to report from the kids, poor old son number 1 has a swimming gala tomorrow, county champs on Sunday and then a school gala on Monday, so over 10 races in 3 days!
On the running front I have continued with the two sessions a day and think I have ‘cracked it’ from the legs perspective. After my sessions on Mondays and Thursdays I run home from the train station completing just over 5 miles, and on Tuesdays and Friday’s I jog straight to the train station a distance of 2.5 miles.
Sunday 8th – 8x200m with 45 sec jog
Monday – 6x3 mins with 1 min recovery
Tuesday – 9x2mins 1 min recovery
Wednesday – Bridges race 2.34 miles. 12:45 20 seconds slower than 2 months ago, just couldn’t get in to the race. Came 20th although fastest time.
Thursday – 4x5mins with 2 mins recovery
Friday – Was feeling depressed (the weather wasn’t helping either) and decided not to run.
This week
Sunday 15th – 8x200m with 45 sec jog
Monday – 5x1k reps around Green Park with 30 sec rest. Average was 3:23 which is 4 sec a rep better than ever before!
PM – 5 miles home in 35 mins
Tuesday – AM – 2.5 miles jog to train station
PM – 9x2 mins av distance 616m which is the best this year!
Wednesday – 2 mile warm up, 10k with Orlando at 6mm, 2mile warm down. Legs starting to feel tired
Thursday – 4x5 mins, average 1490m but felt strong which is good with this wind at the mo!
Friday – AM 2.5 miles to train station
PM – 15x300m with 45 sec recovery.
Now the legs are tired, which is generally what I wanted as next week I am easing down for the Serpie 5k. Unfortunately its not the normal course due to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. Instead it’s a 2 lap course with a small sharp hill on each lap. I am hoping for 16:30 and I guess this course is about 10 seconds slower than the other.
Keep up the running.
Les
