I've been remiss with blogging...

... but I assure you that I have been active!
This is [checking] Friday Week 6. I haven't told you anything about Week 5 yet! It was supposed to be 5 Tuesday, 5 Thursday and 5 Sunday - a 15-mile all round quiet week after the 10-miler (and splendid new PB).
What I acheived was:
Monday - body conditioning
Tuesday - circuits - no running in eve or morn because it was raining
Wednesday - body conditioning
Thursday - pilates (second time attending, thought it went quite well)
Friday - a session in the gym
the only problem is that on Thursday night I couldn't sleep because my neck and back were killing me! I couldn't twist my head from left to right - and was basically unable to walk other than like Davros of the Daleks. A really achy pain that painkillers could not take away. This basically prevented a run on Thursday or Sunday and I didn't do a gym class at all on Saturday.
So this week was supposed to be as follows:
Tuesday: 2 miles @ 9.01
Thursday: 7 mile temp run (3x1600 at 7.07 w/800 jogs)
Sunday: 14 miles
Things naturally healed by about Monday of this week and because the class instructor wasn't there, I went to the gym on Monday, circuits Tuesday, a rest day on Wednesday, a run (4.5 miles) on Thursday and an abs/core class today. I learnt that to make the most of an isolated/focused class like pilates or abs you need to do a decent aerobic warmup first - which is what I did today. And they were right! Also I had a massage on Thursday which really got into those shoulder muscles. Oh and I did body balance on Thursday - can almost do the splits now!! I dont know if I should be proud or even admitting that one!! But I am getting better in my core muscles which is making running much easier.
Tuesday night I went out with Orpington Road Runners, my club for some 3 years. I haven't been out with them since the start of 2008 - because of various reasons not least because of those sneaky early morning runs. It was great to be back with them and I caught up with a whole load of old friends. It is good to get out on your own to do the runs but also fab to meet up with friends whilst you're training! We did a fast-paced 7 miles in just over one hour - phew! I rewarded myself with pancakes cooked lovingly by Z.
Saturday I plan to do an aerobic class followed by Body Balance then I suppose I better limber up for a 14-miler. No races on that I've entered although doubtless there is a 1/2M nearby - there is a Sidcup 10 but that is a boring 3 lap of Sidcup - undesirable at any time of year! Although the weather is planning to be great through till Tuesday! Hurrah. I think it will have to be an early start because we have friends coming over for lunch and we have as usual a weeks' worth of chores to complete. Anyway its late now so I should post this and promise to keep more up to date with you!
Next week (Week 7) is all about:
Tuesday: 2 miles @ 9.01
Thursday: 6 miles with the middle 4 being at 7.37
Sunday: 16 miles
Phew! I think that we can agree Tuesday will be easy, Thursday is a median run and Sunday is all rather dependent on how this Sunday goes!
