Ch-ch-ch-changes

Inevitably I suppose, I have changed my glasses. It was when someone suggested there was a hint of Nana Mouskouri about me, that I felt I had to take decisive action. She is a beautiful woman, I might add, just not quite the look I was aiming for. So now I feel I can wear my new specs with impunity, although when I brought them home, my delightful husband said that he liked them, even though he thought my first pair had made me look younger……. I ask you. Talk about kicking a girl when she is down. At least I could see the boot coming now…

However I am bouncing back and planning my next run. In fact I think I may pound the streets this very night. The 5-miler on Monday felt okay. So much so, that at the end of it, I ran straight into the house and straight up the stairs to the office to enter the Kingston Breakfast Run online. Incidentally I had forgotten the race is actually 8.2 miles, but I know from bitter experience that the point two will be the hardest of the whole flaming thing.

Well I say race, I use that term loosely. It is never a race for me when I run. It is simply a procession of other people’s bums bobbing away into the distance….. But no matter. It’s not the winning it's the taking part my friends…. At least that is what I keep telling myself. I'm working a fair bit this week at good old aunty, so I staggered home from the office last night to watch the Milan v Man Utd game. Apart from David Beckham’s startling resemblance to Wolverine, the other thing that struck me was the magnificent head of hair on Leonardo.

That man could do hair commercials for a living. I think the word to describe his barnet would be lustrous. And it looks like he may have a little time free when the Italian season is over, because I don’t think the Rossoneri will be making it any further in Europe this season. Right I am off to broadcast to the world and you’ll be thrilled to hear that I am done with talking about my glasses…….... I think.

  • Johnf 'Yes I was wondering actually how auntie doles out the gigs, with the Winter Olympics on at the moment, World Cup on the horizon, are you in somebody's bad books and have been chained to West London? Perhaps we'll see you at the VLM this year, with the recent training you'll be able to keep up with a few for those running commentaries. Don't forget to tie the glasses on though!' added 17th Feb 2010

  • Sue_Thearle 'Oh blimey no. No bad books. I am more of a home bird these days and the notion of spending weeks away from the little people doesn't appeal hugely. Anyway I prefer it here rather than Vancouver right now. Canada is too warm for my taste.....' added 17th Feb 2010
