Easter Eggstravaganza
Hello sports fans, I trust you all had a great Easter. It was a bumper treat for the coach potatoes among us who fancied a bit of sport. It was difficult to know what to watch first. Man Utd and Chelsea, the Boat Race, David Haye and John Ruiz, the Irish National, the Malaysian Grand Prix, Tiger Woods facing the media or Newcastle returning to the Premier League. A dizzying array of entertainment, matched only by the competitiveness of the Easter Egg hunt at our house, which seemed to go on for hours.

My favourite image from the sporting weekend though has to be the picture of the victorious Cambridge crew, snapped in the Thames sporting spectacular powder blue wellies. Eight strapping men (and the cox) bold and true blue, with a hint of camp about the footwear. Clearly the key word there is hint and if any of them objected to that, I would withdraw it in a heartbeat..(!)
In terms of training, well I have eaten a bit of chocolate…..not much but a bit. Well the children did get so many eggs, I’m actually doing them a favour....... They’ll thank me for it in their healthy older age….. I have though still managed to strap the running shoes on. I forced myself to do 4 miles on Good Friday because, as I explained solemnly to my running mate and my husband, just like the film There Will Be Blood, I was planning on making my own Easter version of that called There Will Be Chocolate….so it had to be done….. and indeed it was.
So I am feeling in reasonable shape for the 8.2, yes 8.2 mile Breakfast Run, which is looming this Sunday. I got my number and chip in the post this week, so it's all systems go now. After that, I can calm down a little on the distance and focus on the 4.7, yes 4.7 mile relay leg of the Edinburgh Marathon. And so I must love you and leave you as a 3 mile run beckons. All part of my mini taper. Then that is me done until Sunday morning…..ahh happy days…..incidentally the fund-raising is coming on a treat, but any extra gratefully received…… come on….. you know the drill. I shall report back later this week with news of the big race colly wobbles…… www.justgiving.com/Sue-Thearle
