Back On Track (sort of)

After the last couple of weeks being a bit poor on the training front I had a little panic at how long I had to train and the gave me the kick up the ass I needed to make a better effort to make sure I got my training days planned into my week. So, on Monday off I popped to the gym straight from work, the intention was to do 2min jogs again but despite my best efforts I just could not quite string a full 2mins together, I did some 1:15's, some one 1:30's so after about 10 mins of this I decided I might be more constructive (and stay on the treadmill longer) if I went back to 1min jogs and 1min walk. It worked but I still only managed a further 30mins. I feel like I'm going backwards slightly. However I'm on lates next week so that will mean I can have three training sessions on the road - I think that will give me a better indication on just how far I've come and so fill mw with a bit more confidence again.
One of the problems I have is that on my own, I'm rubbish at caving in and not pushing myself that little bit further - I do push myself past certain barriers but I don't push myself as far as I know I can go. About a year ago I had a personal trainer who was amazing and pushed me really hard - and it really paid off, the problem is that now I can't afford a personal trainer once a week
but if there's anybody out there who would like to train me out of the goodness of their heart.......or maybe in return for cakes - I make nice cake lol

spoogie37 'Another possibility would be to try to get a running buddy. Run with me every now and then if you like - I remember you once indicating that you live in Oxford, I live in Reading - it would probably be only occasional though as it is a half hour train journey between the two places. But if theres anyone else around who lives in or near Oxford ...' added 5th Nov 2009

philk 'Free cakes? I'm there. Where? All you can for now is keep going as you are, things will improve as you get fitter. As Spoogie says, if you can find a running buddy that will help but I know my problem is finding someone as slow as me, everyone else seems to run so fast and far! The only other things is push yourself. I know you said you find it hard but you have to do it if you want to complete the course. When out on the street just push yourself to the next lamppost or junction or post box, whatever, but when you get there promise yourself one more. Only one. But do another if you can. You will soon find you are running without thinking about it and the distance will fly by.' added 5th Nov 2009
