Salisbury 10

Mar0720104:51 p.m.

Monday: Rest day

Tuesday: 6 mile run then 45 min of upper body work down the gym

Wednesday: Rest day

Thursday: 45 min core work at the gym, 5.5 mile run then 45 min swimming BMF style.

Friday: No exercise but a night out to see a friend perform wiht his band

Saturday: Long run of 12 miles and a meal out with friends

Sunday: Salisbury 10 and off swimming in a mo.

Thursday was an interesting day. Firstly one of my friends fell over when running and we had to call her an ambulance.  She has broken her arm/wrist and will be out of action for a while.  At least she wan't running on her own, so things could have been worse.

Then swimming was also interesting.  Our usual swimming coach was on holiday so we had one who specialises in British Military Fitness.  The class consisted of sprinting on length, getting out, doing 10 press ups, get back in and sprint another length, get out and do plank, get back in and swim one length with a brick in each hand... for 45 min.  Great fun, but it nearly killed me.

Sunday's race was good.  Last year it rained really hard for the second half, and it was hard to run fast enough to keep warm.  This year was cold, but much more pleasent, running in the sunshine.  The aim was to run on tired legs, after Saturday's session, so I wasn't after a good time.  But as often happens, as soon as you take your eyes off the time you run faster and I think I got a PB by about 30 seconds.  Chuffed to bits with that, but not really looking forward to the swim later.

  • emmteeyess 'God - as if swimming wasn't hard enough! I'm so impressed you could do all that extra stuff. Think I'd have just swum like the proverbial brick, straight to the bottom. And a pb today on top off all that - we're not worthy - we're not worthy - Cheers, MTS' added 7th Mar 2010
