What a difference a year makes!
Dec1320101:29 p.m.
I am feeling all nostalgic again as people are stepping out on the road of marathon training plans - thinking back to last year, the obsessive ticking off of runs, my religious logging of training runs, times and paces and of course regular blogging. It all seems so long ago. So good luck to everyone stepping out on the road to London, it certainly was an amazing experience for me.
So what about me, well here I am 29 weeks pregnant and I can barely walk waddle up the road with any dignity!! It is exactly 23 weeks since I ran a step. Well except a few weeks back when my youngest daughter forgot where the brakes were on her bike. I managed 150yds at top speed before I caught her. Not a pretty sight, and let's just say if I didn't have my medal I would wonder how I ever managed to run 26.2 miles such was my breathlessness.
Thankfully this pregnancy has been going well, the baby is certainly very active kicking away inside with great gusto. I won't go into all the indignities of pregnancy after all people log on here to read about lovely running and training plans, not the less glamorous sides to having babies. Although as this pregnancy is my current obsession it leaves me short on material to blog about!! Are people interested in heartburn, varicose veins and swollen ankles - probably not?!
I am getting impatient to meet this little one now, only 11 weeks to go or maybe less as my youngest was 2 weeks early. I am planning another homebirth which was lovely last time - being at home with two familiar midwives to myself was just lovely , as long as there is plenty of gas and air to see me through! Once Christmas is out of the way it won't be long to go and I will have to do some serious organising!! The cot will need to be retrieved from the loft and dusted off, the bedrooms will need rearranging and I have lots of pink clothes to sort out. If this baby is of the blue variety I will have lots of shopping to do! We didn't find out the sex at the scan as I like surprises, but now I am thinking maybe we should have been practical and found out so I can get organised. Saying that when we had the scan I am sure I saw something suspiciously boy like, so if I was a betting woman that is where my money would go! But then I might just have imagined it ..
To pass the time I might just set myself some training targets to get myself back into some sort of shape, well a shape that is less round than the current one. I am so itching to run again I have been dreaming about running marathons! Maybe that could be a target for 2012 ....
It appears I am rambling now, so if I don't blog again before - Happy Christmas everyone and I hope the New Year is a successful one xx
