5 Miles Recovery
Just a straightforward post today, I will not inflict the inner workings of my mind or my over active imagination on you all tonight - besides I can barely keep my eyes open!
This morning, as my husband cycled off into the sunshine (remember he got me to do my long run in the rain yesterday so he wouldn't get his bike wet!!), I decided to take the girls swimming for some quality time together - and ease my aching legs. It was really busy at the pool but we all had a whale of a time.
This afternoon I ventured out for the 5 miler I should have done yesterday, and while my legs were heavy I didn't feel half as bad as I did after my first 20 miler when I could barely walk the next day. This run should have been at marathon pace, but I thought slow would be best as a recovery. We went as a family to a cycle path near Stratford so the girls could go on their scooters while my husband walked the dog and I ran ahead. It was quite a boring there and back run, and as I didn't really know quite how far I was going, I trotted along maybe a bit faster than I thought. I got back to the family in 50:40 so I must have covered 5 miles. When I got home I measured it as 5.3 miles so it turned out to be marathon pace at 9.33 m/m. So a good weeks running, every run done and not too much pain. Next week is a set back with a long run of 12 miles at the weekend - that will feel quite short I imagine!
Well done to all you racers on your weekend results. Hope you all have a good week, happy running all xx

STUBLACK 'Short run - 12 miles, who would have thought that a few months ago. Wait till you tell people you're only doing a short 12 mile run, most will think you're mad' added 21st Mar 2010

I can barely string a sentence together after 6pm... mind you that isn't too unusual :0) Hope you managed to get the running shoes exchanged... you are right, you should be getting expert fitting advice when going to a specialist shop and shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes. I'll be interested to see how you get on. Oh, and thanks for the comment on my blog, yes I was a very proud mum! :0) x ' added 22nd Mar 2010
