Chomp, Chomp, Chomp

The frustration is now starting to get the better of me I’m afraid. I could chew my own arm off, chomp chomp!
Only a week to go before I get this plaster off and hopefully a run will be in order the next day. It’s not just the lack of outdoor exercise that’s getting the better of me, it’s being stuck at home which is starting to get hard to cope with.
Oh and the lack of sleep doesn’t help.
A certain baby has now decided to revert to waking 2 - 3 times a night which to be perfectly honest is not on! We had a couple of nights where he slept through, but they didn’t last. I confess I have started to wean him in the hope that his night time hunger might be alleviated. He does rather enjoy his food which is nice, but he still likes his midnight snacks too!
I have been riding the exercise bike when the opportunity arises in a vain bid to hold onto some CV fitness. I am aiming for 4 hours a week, which sometimes happens and sometimes doesn’t. I made the mistake of looking at my training plan and by now I should be halfway through the 10k plan. I was going to attempt a local race this weekend but it is just out of the question. My husband thinks I should just do it anyway. I think I scare him slightly when I can’t run. But who’s he trying to kid, I’ve still got an arm in plaster and haven’t run a step for weeks!!
Having got up to 5k I am not sure where my fitness will be. I suspect I will have to step back to the intervals and see where I am at. The most frustrating thing is my plan was to get up to 10k before the end of term and then try and tick over during the holidays when the opportunities to get out with the three kiddiewinks in tow will be few and far between! Now the end of term is three weeks away so there is no point starting any plan as I won’t be able to follow it through and I get very twitchy if I can’t follow a plan properly. Realistically I can’t expect to be able to get up to 10k now until the autumn at the earliest. My husband is getting adventurous on his bike so we’ll competing to get out at the weekends!!
On the bright side I have now lost a stone since the end of March. Just one more to go and I might feel more human. I’ve hit a bit of a lull, maybe too much comfort eating to cheer me up so a strict week for me to get back on track.
And the house is clean (ish) so it’s not all bad!
Happy running xx

ClareVR 'The main thing is that you get that arm better, don't go doing anything too soon, the fitness will come back and as you have been on the bike I am sure that will have helped. Congrats on the weight loss - you will have to let me in on your secret!' added 4th Jul 2011

Hat 'Oh don't chew your arm off - you'll put all that weight you've lost back on! I feel your frustration though!! Time passes slowly when you want to be doing something you can't, but trust me, time goes very, very fast in reality and it won't be long before your plaster cast is removed and you're back at it. Just try not to have any more accidents!!!xx' added 6th Jul 2011
