Bloody British weather!!!

Jun23200810:57 p.m.

It's off again!!

I've been so stressed out today. As the morning went on I became more and more on edge. I made up my feeds for my swim and made last minute arrangements. Time was running out. I wanted to be down in Dover in the early afternoon but everything seemed to take twice as long as usual. It was like one of those nightmares where you just can't seem to move quick enough and don't seem to be going anywhere!

I finally got sorted at about 4pm and set off in the car. Less than 2 mile up the road I stopped to fill up with petrol. As I left the garage I noticed I had 2 missed calls on my phone. One from Paul and one from home. I phoned home to be told the swim was off!! 30mph winds were coming in and the waves would be huge! There would be no chance!

I phoned Fred and he said we could not go until at least thursday morning. He thinks it should be ok for a 3am start, but then again, Mother Nature will decide!

I'm absolutely gutted! I don't know how many more times I can take this kind of let down. One minute my adrenaline is at an all time high and then suddenly my challenge is taken away from me and I have nowhere for the adrenaline to go. I actually feel exhausted after this kind of setback.

I now have to pick myself up again and refocus my mind for a swim later in the week. I really hope this one goes ahead. I only have until Friday and then my slot is lost and who knows when I will get another chance!

Keep up your spirits.....if its meant to be it will be! Keep blogging kid........ Terry' added 24th Jun 2008

  • TC1978 'I've just done the same 'calm sea' dance as Terry has just done. Trouble is I went out the front door by mistake, just as the Police helicopter was hovering overhead, massive police swoop, foil blankets thrown from all directions.... seriously, I hope you get some decent water to swim in!' added 24th Jun 2008
