Guess what!

It's off again!!
Please don't stop visiting my blog because of the monotomy of reading that it has been called off again! It's not my fault! It's the bloody French weather again!
I only had my boat until Saturday, so that was my last chance to do it at the moment. Unfortunately, my work were unable to let me take Saturday off so it is all cancelled for now!:-((
Everything is so up in the air at the moment. My employers want plenty of notice of when I may be able to do it, but my pilot may only be able to give me a day or two notice! Then I will have to try and find a new support team, depending on who's working or not. I'm actually finding the organisation more stressful than the thought of the swim itself. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not! On top of all this I'm quite annoyed about the lack of support from local businesses - if you want to read my rant see my comment on my last post!
Oh well, I will keep training for now and try and keep positive. Believe it or not, I've had some people telling me to give it all up now and save my money!! That's the last thing from my mind! What do you think?

LittleMissBossy 'Never give up on your dreams, this is something that you have wanted to do since you were a child and to give up now would be such a shame. Those people who say dont carry on are being so negative and dont understand what a great achievement it will be and all for such a worthy cause. I know that when the time comes you will suceed and there will be many people who will be so proud of you. Keep up the training and NEVER GIVE UP!' added 26th Jun 2008

kizzi10000 'Never ever give up! A great friend of mine on the FLM board has made that a bit of a legend round here. It WILL happen. I'm not surprised it's off, it's howling a gale outside at the moment (I'm in the New Forest). I've come across a good quote - "The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination" - Martina Navratilova. If you want it bad enough, you can do it. Pretty naff about the sponsorship issue. I'm about to embark on a quest of my own, and am busy researching companies to write to. i know it's going to be tough going, but if I don't get the funding the whole thing's off as there's no way I can finance it myself. I can't believe people are telling you to give up! Won't even go there as I'll be on my soap box again lol. Hang in there and best of luck. I'm a firm believer in fate, and it will happen when it's the right time for everything.' added 26th Jun 2008

Those people saying that should be shot at dawn and have obviously never had aspirations to do anything beyond what they have assessed they are safely capable of doing...in other words they are boring farts! I am going to keep watching your blog and will be waiting for that day when YOU DO IT! .......You dont think my naked calm sea dance made the weather worse?????? Loads of best wishes Mark and start planning for the next attempt- Terry' added 27th Jun 2008

Hoffy_Swims 'Hi Mark - It's very frustrating I know, but having spent 7 hours in Dover harbour on Saturday and 6 Hrs. yesterday, it was pure hell. It was so rough it was unbelievable. Out in the channel were extremely large "white horses". No one is out there swimming at present. I hope that you don't give up, but you really need to continue doing 5 hour back to back (Saturday/Sunday swims). Take the familiy to Felixstowe at the weekends and get in the sea. It will inspire you to keep on. I'm in Serbia next week for the 19KM river swim, so may do jut 2 x 2 hours swims at Felixstowe at the weekend, then Serbia, then back to Dover for 7/6 hours splits. Call me if you need to. Kind regards. Hoffy. www.hoffyswims.com' added 30th Jun 2008
