Love / Hate Relationship

Feb1620092:28 p.m.

Sarah

Since my 14miles 2 weeks ago, I have only managed 4 short runs. At the beginning of the first week, the snow and ice really hampered my efforts and so I managed the 4 miles back from work once. On the Thursday evening, an awful drive back to Exeter in the snow meant I didn’t arrive until 3.30am and therefore had about 3.5 hours sleep. I managed another 4 miles on the Saturday and then missed my long Sunday run because I was sorting out stuff for the ball. This week hasn’t been much better with a combination of really long hours at work and final preparations for the ball and therefore only one 4 miler back from work. And then my car broke down during my drive down to Exeter on Thursday night, meaning I didn’t get in until 4.30am and had 2.5 hours sleep. Consequently I didn’t run again until yesterday, and what should have been a long run turned into a really tough 7.5 miles because I still felt shattered……

Ok so that seems like a lot of excuses, which it probably is – but it does show how hard it is to fit in a full time job, long drives, fundraising and training. I was mulling it over as I plodded through my 7.5 miles yesterday and whilst I don’t think the marathon is proving more tough than I expected, I had thought I’d enjoy it more than I am. It seems to be a real love / hate relationship and at the moment with only 10 weeks to go, it’s more of the latter! Hopefully a few good nights sleep will sort me out…..
