By way of introduction
I ran my first half marathon this year and am raring to do my first marathon. I have chosen the Ft. Lauderdale A1A marathon to do that.
I train by myself, which is sometimes great, since I am considered a "loner" by most people. But it is a bad thing as far as motivation. There are just too many days when I feel like just sitting at home. Don't get me wrong, I love running, but there are some days when I just don't have the "get up and go" to get up and go. I'm fine once I get out there. I push past my goals pretty much without fail. Once I'm running.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just lazy. But I am pushing myself to get out of thehouse and run every day.
So, aside from reaching for the goal of running daily, I have set a goal of competing in the A1A marathon and then on to Boston.
I sure could use help from anyone who has had the motivation problem I am having. I could use suggestions as to how to overcome it.

treeweavehotmailcom 'I feel your pain! I have 2 marathons and a bunch of 1/2 marathon medals hangin on my wall- each time I battle with fitting in the time to train and beating myself up with guilt when I let a day(s) go by without putting the time in- I never win, but I am injury-free and always have fun- I do have a small group of people I try to get a long run in with on the weekends- or every other- also they keep me honest- I need to train Mon-Fri to hang with the pack- running the full- you run your own race- but training with a group is invaluable- and I have made lifelong friends- you tend to share alot of info when you are out there for 3 hours at a strecth! get a buddy- even if it is someone who will call you up on the weekend and get you moving-good luck- see you out there' added 27th Jan 2008

kmd3369 'Hi Tortuga- great name, by the way! I think active use of this blog is a great motivator. There's such a big community of active runner/bloggers, all of whom are keen to add comments, to help, to suggest, to give support. Start by committing to yourself, then going public with your goals, and your progress on your blog. I've really found it fantastically motivating. Update your stats, tell the world what you're going to do that day or that week, and update how you've done. Put everything in- your gym work outs, your walks, your runs. I hope you'll find it as useful as I do! Kevin' added 2nd Feb 2008
