There is hope

If April 25 is a cool day, I am in luck. Did three loops in Central Park on Sunday in near-freezing temperatures, running the 6.1 loop and trying to stick to the bridal path or dirt as much as possible, and did it in under three hours, which while not exactly high speed, is above a turtle's pace. If I can keep this up for 26.2 miles I calculate I can do the marathon in 4 hours 20 minutes, a full ten minutes' faster than the 'average time' for that event. Took two torq gels at 6 and 12 miles and never felt a huge energy drain; I felt some muscle pain in my legs and some pain in my knees, with the usual wobbliness at the end, but never felt as if I couldn't go on. In fact felt energy when I was going UP hills, but not when going down. It's looking possible now.
