Owen has got cocky, or scared, or both! He has sent an email out stating his intentions to run the marathon (and lube his nipples) to his nearest and dearest. He claims it is to shame him into training. Me thinks it will just mean more people to say "Another pint...are you sure?" to him. The nipple lubing is proving to be some what of an early obsession with him....it is a historic injury he has obtained in the past so I can see the concern but still....the one occasion where sports bras rock!

As mentioned previously my training has not gone as well, or been as fun this time round. I think it is because I know what I am letting myself in for. The Watford half-marathon is a prime example. Last year the far of the unknown got me round. This year all I could think of was how awful the hills were, and this was on the train on the way there. I found the whole ordeal (yes, it was not a run it was an ORDEAL) painful, mentally rather than physically. The physical side came afterwards. The Watford half was the Sunday before the south-east was paralysed by the snow flutter that any other developed country could have seen off...in fact it fluttered down politely during the run. It was very cold and my run/sulk walk strategy meant that I really felt it. In fact I think it was about 4:30pm that evening that I finally felt normal again.

This mental barrier has me a touch concerned about the big day. Thankfully I am confident that the 'hills' are no challenge but that distance is scaring me a bit. I haven't done nearly as many medium/long runs as I had done by this time last year. Tomorrow I think O and I are jogging down to Hyde Park, having some fun there and then possibly jogging/walking back - although there is an Everton match at 12:45 to factor in to the equation!

Still, it's such a beautiful day today I wish I could go running at lunch time - physically I could, obviously, but I don't really see the point in going out for less than an hour. That plus the shower, hair wash and make-up reapplication would be severely pushing my luck with EY!
