Heroes 5k Run in Brighton
May18200911:14 p.m.
Well, Sunday was my first run after a fantastic FLM in April. Been travelling and resting since, so was looking forward to a run. Didn’t have a target in mind and certainly didn’t aim for a PB.
Which was just as well, since this was a bit of a special run. As the name suggests, we needed to be “heroes” to run in this race. So I went with my flatmate, who was dressed as Batman and I came as Robin (feel free to laugh at the photo below). We actually went from our flat in London all the way down to Brighton in the costumes, which was hilarious. :D
In addition to the run, the organisers wanted to try and break the Guinness World Record for most superheroes in one place. Apparently the previous record was held by Bournemouth University with 103. I think we managed to beat that quite easily, but will need to wait for the official results to come in. I’m hoping for a certificate :)
The run itself was nice and easy. Didn’t have my iPod, didn’t have my stopwatch, chip or anything else. I just wanted to enjoy the run. And it was pretty fun, with a nice sea breeze and lot’s of people in funny outfits. Enjoyed it a great deal, and I’ve got no idea what my time was. Guessing about 30min…
This week I should back in full running, as I’m training for a 10k at the end of June. The race is called Vidovdanksa Road Race and it’s in a Bosnian town called Brcko, close to my home town of Banja Luka. It’s one of the few races that are internationally recognised in Bosnia, so wanted to try it out. I was very surprised that all the places were taken within weeks, so had to get my parents to get me and a friend places. Naughty, I know, but I really want to go.
So now it’s back to training and with the nice weather coming, it should be even better than the FLM preparation :)
