Just back from a 14-miler along the river Mersey in ankledeep mud. Took me 4 hours. I just cannot understand why the British don't give a **** about the condition of their public paths. No pavement, deep holes and it takes a five minute drizzle to turn a potentially beautiful and inviting path into a complete disaster. No wonder most people are couch potatoes here.
