Run to Belton House... and back!

Sep29200911:10 a.m.

THis mornings training plan consisted of 2 x 14min runs. I decided that this was about the right amount of time to run to the local National Trust property and back.

I am always there with the kids as they have a fabulous children's adventure park and a huge amount of land for them to vent their steam!

I have incorporated this into my running routes as I can run through and back home in a loop, although it does bring me back down a main road to the constant amusement of van drivers - what is it with the horn honking??

To take my mind off the constant brain vs leg struggle that I have, I was thinking about what it must have been like to live in the house in it's hayday, it is certainly a massive place for just one family If you have ever watched the BBC's adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Belton House was used as Rosings, the home of Lady Catherine DeBurgh. Here is a pic of it in case you have never come across it before. It is one of my favourite places to spend time!

Anyway, the run was quite hard work today as I did most of it on the grass (less sheep poop and stones!), I had to will myself to stand up straight and carry on as I felt really sluggish most of the way! However, imagine my surprise when I uploaded the workout data and was told that I had an average pace of 8'49m!!! I'll just say that again, 8'49!!! That is a personal best - woo-hoo! I have never got below the 9 min mile before!

Bring on next week!
