About

Ok, I ran for a while, I stopped for longer. I put on a stone, I sulked about it for a bit, now I have given myself a good talking to and am out ...

The leg is better - the running is not so!

Dec09200811:32 a.m.

I thought I would give the leg a go today and see if it was up to running yet, and it was! YIPEEE!

It was an odd injury, I didn't feel it all while I was walking or biking, but I just had to run 2 paces and I was getting shooting pain - strange. Anyway, it's gone now.

It was a bit icy underfoot today and so I was a bit wary of slipping over, not because I didn't want to get hurt, just didn't want to look silly! I was already getting people looking at me like I was mad.

I ventured uphill today as I fancied a route that might have been well used and therefore not too icy. Although the leg was better and the body was willing, I really struggled to get going today and I must have walked a dozen times in the 5 miles that I did, but at least I was back running. I was trekking around at an average 10m/m pace but at one point there was a really wicked downhill section and I got 7.01 pace down there so it was worth the crawl up to the top!

Gorgeous sunny frosty day here, hope it is good running where you are!

  • SuperCaz 'Shooting pain? It's not sciatica is it? That's a common problem for runners, particularly beginners. Typically you get shooting pain down the back of the leg starting from the bum. Sometimes you can also get pins and needles or numb feet but not in all cases. If you think that might be it, drop me a line and I will pass on the exercises that the physio gave me for mine.' added 10th Dec 2008
