Midweek Challenge!
Well, the midweek challenge was actually dragging myself out of bed very early this morning to complete a 5 mile run before work. After peeping out the curtains it was a remarkably dry and frostfree morning so I had no choice and off I went for the "round the block" route I had set myself.
It is amazing how people are a lot friendlier as the sun comes up and the wormcatchers are out ready to begin their day. People on bikes (in cycling shorts I add!) the early morning posties, (yes, I didn't think they worked that early anymore either!) the young lad with his ear phones in looking like he had not been asleep yet, they all nodded and said hello as I went on my way. Very bizarre - that doesn't happen in "normal" hours, so how come the early mornings make things so different? Perhaps it is because we want to share the fact that we are all up so early with someone? Who knows!
A nice little run today, and I tried to pick up some speed half way through which meant I was back a good 5 minutes earlier than normal. Struggled slightly in places as I tend not to eat when I get home from the gym on a night and then straight out without food for the run in the morning is perhaps not the best idea..... so tonight I have had a Horlicks Hot Chocolate to replenish the stores after tonights spin class and before tomorrow mornings run.
Speaking of food, I read the best blog ever earlier today. If you get the chance read Ruth22's blog, she is hilarious! She was talking about the type and amount of food she can now consume whilst training and that a roast dinner hardly touches the sides! I can relate to her completely at the moment and life does seem to revolve around training, eating the right foods, thinking of training, thinking of food, dreaming of training, dreaming of food, training ...... food!
My work colleagues are bemused by the amount of pasta, jacket potatoes and rice I eat on a lunchtime. They have got used to my food patterns now and I feel I will look like a pasta bow soon if I carry on! I just hope that when the training finishes I go back to eating for 1 and not like I am pregnant with quadruplets!
Anyway, waffling about food is making me hungry. A personal trainer friend has set me a challenge of incorporating more hill work into my weekly training, saying it will increase my fitness level immensely..... just call me "Hills Frew" from now on and I will let you know how it goes!
Happy Hump Day All!

TheFridayGang 'Haha - I know what you mean about dreaming of food! My friends think I'm insane taking on a marathon, but they're also envious of the quantities of food I consume without gaining an ounce! We also discovered how friendly the early morning walkers are on our LSR on Sunday - I think it was a combination of the sunshine and the sense of camaraderie you get from knowing you're not the only nutter out so early! All the best with the training, Mandy (Friday Gang) :-) ' added 10th Mar 2010
