VLM Training and ITV Calendar News
The past few weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster really. Unsure why my right leg has been painful, nothing has changed training wise. After the Kilomathon my legs were fine, did a recovery run a couple of days later which really helped. A week later I did just over 7 miles, leg started complaining a bit and now I've found that the piriformis muscle and sciatic nerve on my right side are inflammed. My mind is raring to go but my body isn't co-operating at the moment. My physio has been treating me for this and has given me some good advice to get me through the marathon, which I will. Now my training has taken me indoors once more, until this hiccup is sorted out. I decided that my body isn't getting let off with it that lightly, so I've been putting in at least 2 hours in the gym. This is to keep my body working for a longer period of time, similar to what I would do outdoors. All of the training has been non impact based such as cross trainer and bike. I've also incorporated loads of core exercises to help prepare for the long haul ahead! My physio has even sponsored me so that's confidence! I'm very determined and will complete this challenge.
Most of you who have been following my blogs, will know all about Joshua. Well it was the anniversary of his 10th birthday on 25th March. That was the day that ITV filmed my story about why I'm running the London Marathon. It was good sharing this, and this was something I wanted to do. I felt like I was validating his memory. But it did feel strange when I would normally shut myself away from the world at this time. I suppose these mixed feelings are normal.
