About Shin Splints!

Haven't been able to completely shift my shin splint in my left leg. I feel I have just about tried everything and they still seem to return avengence!

Even though my trainers seemed ok and were under mileage, I decided to go and get my 'marathon trainers' - as soon as I put a new pair on the difference in support and cushioning was amazing!

I have also found a great site http://www.shinsplintsolutions.com/. You can purchase an e-book which gives you a total run down on everything to do with shin splints including Active Release Technique. I have had so much contradictory advice but this book seems to have the definitive solutions and so far seems they seem to be improving - touch wood!

I tried a little running yesterday after a photoshoot with the local press. In my new trainers, and just doing a couple of minutes running with intervals of walking it did feel a little better. Usually, it is worse later and the next day with chronic shooting pains. but today it feels so great that I may go out and try to run again. I will take it slowly though!

I may go a different way today though -  yesterday I was doing a short running interval when I spotted a huge rat about 20 yards in front of me just sitting there staring. I am absolutely petrified of mice and rats as my family will tell you. I started shouting, jumping up and down and clapping my hands like an idiot, in hope that the rat would disappear into the hedge but he decided to run towards me !!!!!

So what did I do? Turned round and ran, of course!
