07th MAR - still in Cape Town. A fantastic night out last night with dining at 'Bolouga'. I had a fabulous Duck Pate Cream Brûlée to start with & a tender filet of steak with whole shrimp, mash, pepper sauce, creamed spinach & potato fries - YUM! Maybe not diet fodder lol but definitely all delicious. I thought I'd be good & hold back on dessert, I did wash my meal down with a couple of glasses of South African wine however! :) So decided on a long sleep & woke about 11am. After some Facebook messaging, emails & other web surfing decided a visit to the gym again was in order to tackle the beast that is the treadmill. Unfortunately 29C outside, lovely for sunbathing but a little hot for running! So another 10K was planned. One other person, a lady, was in the gym when I arrived & was stretching in front of the mirror. A football match between Arsenal & Liverpool was showing on the screen. I took up one of the two treadmills in the small hotel gym. I could feel the air-conditioning blowing through but I was soon working up a sweat! I found it a bit easier today, possibly because I wasn't so dehydrated from the flight & also because I had the football game to keep me distracted!! However I still don't have a love for treadmill running! So 10K (6.2 miles) it was in 55mins 16 secs (AV 8:54/mile). So I was pretty happy with that. Back to the room for a few stretches, & a quick shower before heading down to the 'Waterfront' (a 2 mile walk round trip) for a late lunch & to enjoy the sunshine. :) The Waterfront was a hustle & bustle with lots to see. Various acts performing different styles of African music & dance. I sat for a while to take in one of the acts & to people watch. A clear view of Table mountain in the background. After a light lunch it was a walk back to the hotel, stopping on the way to buy some more runner gels for my planned 20 mile run, Friday in Scotland. Now for a chill, as I write this post, before my return flight home. A big thank you to those of you have sponsored me recently for my marathon run, the money will help make a big difference for 'Macmillan Cancer Support'. For anyone who would still like to donate you can do so at my fundraising page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/craigduff thanks in advance. Catch you later x
