It’s the night before the night before and I’m feeling nervous!!! The last 2 weeks overall have been a bit nervy – another injury to the list and again it was of my usual problems – my hip flexor. Luckily this hasn’t meant not running just lots of ice and a bit of ibuprofen although I’ve had to avoid anything too hilly – not easy in Sheffield. I am told that this injury will not now cause me a problem on race day unless I do some hurdles!  It does feel loads better so I think I should be OK. The other issue over the last few days has been a sore throat but again this seems to have cleared up.

I have currently narrowed my race day outfit down to 3 options weather dependant and accessories range from factor 25 sun cream to a woolly hat such has been the weather this week. The latest forecast now suggests a dry day and luckily nowhere near as hot as last year.

So tomorrow I’m off to the Expo to pick up my number with VK and AKK who aren’t running this year but are my support team. Also Ben, Ma and Pa Stu will be at their usual spot Canary Warf with their Wednesday flag and hopefully my Uni mates are also cheering me on as well as birthday girl CG and Dave Peck.

     Almost Time

Thinking back to last year, the main lesson to note is do not panic after the 1st mile takes 12 minutes! This is to be expected with all those people, the time can be made up over the next 10 miles and not the next 10 minutes!
